Atlantic General Hospital Receives Donation of Respiratory Equipment

Parents donate equipment in memory of their son, who passed away in November 2022

Berlin, Md. – Atlantic General Hospital’s respiratory therapy department is the recipient of two pieces of medical equipment that will be used to treat patients in future. Lora and Jim Pangratz donated a CoughAssist airway clearance device as well as a Bi-Pap machine to the hospital in memory of their son, Andrew James (AJ) Pangratz, who passed away on November 11, 2022. He was 26 years old.

AJ, who had Duchenne muscular dystrophy, was admitted to Atlantic General last fall due to complications with COVID-19.

“It just ended up being too much for his body,” said Lora Pangratz, who became a volunteer chaplain at Atlantic General in March. “My husband and I really wanted to be able to help others by donating his CoughAssist and his Bi-Pap machine. It brings us comfort to know that it will be used to help other patients.”
