Berlin, Md.
– The Auxiliary of Atlantic General Hospital and Health System recently
held its annual awards dinner and presented president and CEO, Michael
Franklin, FACHE with a check in the amount of $50,000 toward their $300,000
pledge to the hospital’s Campaign for the Future.
Judy Baumgartner, Auxiliary teen volunteer coordinator, presented an award
to a Stephen Decatur high school student, Dana Kim, for her outstanding
service to the hospital. Kim has provided the registration/information
department with 231 hours of service this year and plans to continue volunteering
throughout the summer. Kim has volunteered with Atlantic General Hospital
for three years, and has completed a record amount of 400 hours as an
Auxiliary teen volunteer.
“Ms. Kim’s service is much appreciated. We are so blessed to
have the help and support of our high school volunteers. Ms. Kim should
be very proud of her commitment to serving her local, not-for-profit hospital
and the community,” said Baumgartner.
Volunteers who have contributed 100 hours of service or more to the hospital
and health system and all committee chairs were also recognized. Volunteers
support Atlantic General Hospital by donating their time and expertise
in every aspect of the hospital and health system as well as in the
community, providing more than 28,000 hours of service to the hospital annually.
Volunteers also serve on hospital teams and committees, providing crucial
insight and community support to Atlantic General Hospital. The Auxiliary
Coordinators were recognized for their organization and hard work training
the new volunteers as they come in, and keeping their different groups
running smoothly.
There was a special recognition at this year’s Auxiliary awards dinner,
as there are five Auxiliary members who have been with Atlantic General
Hospital since the beginning. Eileen Gibbons, Mary Lou Jones, Eileen Shea,
and Edna Smith were recognized and thanked for their 25 years of dedication
to volunteering at AGH.
