On November 24th local public officials came together at Atlantic General Hospital to proclaim
December 1st Giving Tuesday (www.givingtuesday.org).
As part of a worldwide campaign to come together for a common purpose –
to celebrate generosity and to give – this is the fourth year of
GivingTuesday, when families, businesses, community centers and students
around the world celebrate the joy of giving.
Atlantic General Hospital invited local public officials to share in this
meaningful day to proclaim December 1st as Giving Tuesday. With the purpose of this day in mind, the Atlantic
General Hospital Foundation put forth an opportunity to give back –
the engraved Brick Campaign that provides a lasting legacy for loved ones.
With a $100 donation, a brick will be engraved with a personal message,
which can be a memorial to a loved one who has passed, a tribute to family
or friends, or a celebration of the future. The engraved bricks will be
used to pave Atlantic General Hospital’s East Entry outside the
Infusion Center. This beautiful space provides a natural gathering place
for associates, visitors and patients.
Paving the Way
to Better Health, One Brick at a Time.

About #GivingTuesday
Now in its fourth year, #GivingTuesday is a global day of giving fueled
by the power of social media and collaboration. Observed on the Tuesday
following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping
events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable
season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving. Since
its inaugural year in 2012, #GivingTuesday has become a movement that
celebrates and supports giving and philanthropy with events throughout
the year and a growing catalog of resources. Created by
92nd Street Y—a cultural center in New York City that, since 1874, has been bringing
people together around the values of service and giving back—#GivingTuesday
connects diverse groups of individuals, communities and organizations
around the world for one common purpose: to celebrate and encourage giving.
As a global movement, #GivingTuesday unites countries around the world
by sharing our capacity to care for and empower one another.
