BEVERLY WARD AND SEAN SULLIVAN RECEIVE AWARD FOR SERVICE

Atlantic General Hospital names Nurse of the Year and Support Staffer of the Year

Registered nurse Beverly Ward and nurse technician Sean Sullivan were recently recognized by Atlantic General Hospital for their outstanding service in healthcare. Ward is the recipient of the 2010 Nurse of the Year Award; Sullivan received the Support Staffer of the Year Award.

Ward has been a nurse at Atlantic General for 12 years, where she worked in the intensive care unit and, currently, the Women’s Diagnostic Center. She and her family moved to the area from Baltimore, where she was a nurse at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, for the lifestyle and the school system.

“It’s a comfortable atmosphere in which to work, and the leadership here allows me to really be a good nurse and offer great care to my patients,” Ward said.

She and Bill, her husband of 25 years, live in Worcester County with their two children, Lance and Elizabeth.

Sullivan has worked as a nurse technician for nearly 10 years, six of which have been dedicated to Atlantic General Hospital. He was active in fire/EMS since he was 16 years old, and getting his nurse technician certification was a natural progression in his career.

He said he works at Atlantic General for the people.

“Sometimes it doesn’t feel like a job at all,” Sullivan said. “We all get along so well and are all focused on the same goal. It’s like working with family.”

He and his wife Mia, who is a nurse at Atlantic General, live in Delaware with their two children, Giana and Ethan.
