Atlantic General Hospital selected for innovative 30 Minute ER Promise
Andi West-McCabe, director of emergency services at Atlantic General Hospital,
will represent the hospital at the annual Premier Breakthroughs Conference
and Exhibition, to be held June 16-19, 2009 in Anaheim, Ca.
West-McCabe was selected to sit on a two-person panel to discuss the nationwide
problem of emergency room overcrowding, the challenges of efficient ER
throughput and the successes garnered through the 30 Minute ER Promise
Atlantic General Hospital launched in February 2007.
The goal of the Premier conference is to discuss the future of healthcare
and bring together top performing organizations to share best practices
and introduce innovative solutions. Last year’s conference was attended
by more than 3100 Premier members and industry experts.
“The opportunity to share the procedures and technology we have
implemented to make our emergency department run more smoothly and efficiently
in a national forum is very exciting,” said West-McCabe. “Our
end goal with the 30 Minute ER Promise was always to improve the community’s
access to the care they need. Through this conference and other venues
we are able to share these best practices with other hospitals and, hopefully,
help improve their patients’ experience as well.”
About Premier
Premier Healthcare Alliance brings together nationwide knowledge to improve
local healthcare. It does this by collecting and analyzing clinical and
financial data from its member hospitals, organizing committees of members
to make decisions and set direction for the Alliance, sponsoring seminars
and conferences, and sharing best practices. Approximately 200 not-for-profit
hospitals and healthcare systems, including large systems operating multiple
hospitals; academic medical centers associated with universities; and
community-owned hospitals entirely take ownership of Premier. Owners range
from small and rural to large inner-city facilities. Owner hospitals and
health systems share the not-for-profit purpose of operation for social
good, and they share with Premier the core purpose of improving the health
of communities.
