Berlin’s Atlantic Health Center walk-in clinic expands hours to accommodate
the community
Atlantic ImmediCare, an affiliate of Atlantic General Hospital and Health
System, is now closed for the remainder of the winter months. Any walk-in
patients who visit Atlantic ImmediCare can be seen at its sister clinic
next door, the Townsend Medical Center, during their regular hours of
operation, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Scheduled to re-open this May, the cash-only urgent care center located
in Ocean City is positioned to accommodate an increased patient volume
resulting from the large number of tourists who visit the area during
the summer months.
“Since the walk-in clinic side of the Townsend Medical Practice was
reborn as Atlantic ImmediCare in September 2006, we have been slowly evolving
the features of this location to service patients who are in the area
temporarily,” said Jonathan Cook, vice president of Practice Administration.
“We want to encourage our local year-round community members to
establish relationships with a primary care provider. Selecting a regular
physician has been shown to improve an individual’s overall health
and create strong preventive health practices.”
Atlantic General Hospital and Health System continues to provide walk-in
care for those times when a primary care provider is unavailable, however.
The Atlantic Health Center, located at 9713 Healthway Drive, across from
the hospital in Berlin, has provided walk-in care to the community since
2005. The center, which accepts Medicare and most private insurances,
also provides financial assistance options for those who are unable to
pay for care.
On January 22, the Atlantic Health Center expanded its hours to include
evening and Saturday care. The center is open Monday through Friday, from
8 a.m. until 6 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.
