Hospital ENCARE Team Offers Free Medication Safety Class
05-12-2006
Did you know the effectiveness and safety of a prescription drug can be
compromised if it is mixed with certain all-natural herbal remedies or
even some foods? Serious complications can also arise from multiple prescription
drug interactions or consuming alcohol while taking a prescription medication.
ENCARE/Worcester County Injury Prevention Institute, a chapter of the
national Emergency Nurses Association Injury Prevention Institute, will
present a TAKECARE Program on Medication Safety on Wednesday, June 7, 2006.
From 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. in Conference Room #2 at Atlantic General Hospital,
ENCARE trainers Candy Gebhart and Krista Conway will discuss the safe
use of medications, certain alcohol and medication interactions, and the
importance of discussing all current medications – including over-the-counter
medicines and herbal remedies – with your doctor. A review of herbal
medications and fall prevention will also be given.
Pre-registration is required; please call 410-641-9268.
