Atlantic General Hospital Nurses Gearing up for 2006 Penguin Swim

Berlin, Md.- With a brand new year just weeks away, Atlantic General Hospital’s nurses team is actively raising funds for the 12th Annual Penguin Swim to be held in Ocean City on January 1, 2006.

The team, which consists of nurses, physicians, support staff, and others who are joining every day, is trying to maintain its second-place status behind Bull on the Beach for sponsorship dollars raised for the big event.

“Although we would love to be first, we respect that the Bull on the Beach is unbeatable,” said Colleen Wareing, Atlantic General Hospital’s vice president of patient care. “But, the Parrot Heads were close on our heels last year, so we need to raise enough money to maintain our trophy.”

Last year’s team collected $4,611.00 for the Penguin Swim. In an effort to exceed that dollar amount, the team has planned a yard sale, a bake sale, and a raffle and is soliciting individual donations. To date, they have raised just over $1,000.00.

For more information about the 12th Annual Penguin Swim or how to sign up a team or individual, please contact Janis Foley, Foundation Development Coordinator, at 410-641-9644.

Funds raised for the Penguin Swim benefit the Atlantic General Hospital Foundation.
